Armed Shiite militias that are part of the Islamic Resistance of Iraq will strike American military bases if Israel or the United States uses the country's airspace to launch attacks on Iran. This was reported by the leader of the Iraqi Shiite militia Hezbollah al-Nujaba, Ali al-Asadi, to the American magazine Newsweek.
“If it is proven that the Americans allowed this formation to use Iraqi airspace, we will respond with strikes on American bases,” he said, adding that the response will come not only from the militia, but also from all formations of the Islamic Resistance of Iraq. The Hezbollah al-Nujaba spokesman also argued that claims that Iraqi airspace was used during Israel's recent attack on Iran were untrue.
According to him, Israel used Syrian airspace over American bases, as well as the airspace of Jordan and Saudi Arabia. On October 28, Iraq sent a note of protest to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the Security Council of the world organization in connection with Israel’s use of the republic’s airspace to strike Iran.
