Ruben Vardanyan's wife, Veronika Zonabend, is ready to travel to Baku with Alen Simonyan. She said this in an open letter to the Secretary of the Armenian National Security Council, Alen Simonyan.
"I learned from the media about your possible visit to Baku.
I welcome your readiness to make such a visit and hope that it will create additional opportunities for resolving humanitarian issues related to Armenian prisoners and their families.
You previously stated the following: "On the path to achieving peace, the resolution of all humanitarian issues is of vital importance, and in this context, the urgent and safe return of Armenian prisoners is of primary importance."
I share this position.
Personally, I am ready to travel to Baku with you. I know that the families of other prisoners also have a similar desire. Please consider the possibility of our participation in the visit, if it takes place, and assist in organizing meetings with our relatives.
In this regard, I would like to ask you the following questions:
Do you plan to visit Armenian prisoners during the visit?
Are you ready to meet with the families of the prisoners before the visit to listen to their requests and accept the letters to be delivered to the prisoners?
For our families, the opportunity to see their relatives, learn about their situation, and personally convey words of love and support is of great importance.
For people in prison, it is an opportunity to feel that the connection with their family has not been lost and that their fate has not been neglected.
"I hope to receive your response and look forward to your willingness to discuss how this opportunity can be used to implement a concrete humanitarian step," the letter says.
