A group of 25 Israeli naval commandos landed on the coast of the city of Batroun in northern Lebanon and kidnapped a local sailor associated with the Shiite organization Hezbollah. Al Hadath TV channel reported about the Israeli operation.
According to him, the kidnapped Lebanese Imad Amhaz was taken by the Israeli military on a speedboat to the sea.
The acting Minister of Public Works and Transport of the Republic, Ali Hamie, confirmed the fact of the abduction of a Lebanese citizen, but refused to comment on the connection between the abducted person and Hezbollah.
“The Lebanese army and intelligence services are conducting an investigation into all the circumstances of the incident,” he said.
