Yeghishe Kirakosyan, Armenia's representative for international legal affairs, explained in response to Sputnik Armenia's inquiry why Armenia has not applied to the International Criminal Court until now, despite having ratified the Rome Statute on February 1.
The point is that the RA authorities have explained the need to join the ICC by the fact that with a new status, they can raise before the court the issue of Azerbaijan's aggression and war crimes against Armenia and its people (including during the invasion of RA territory in 2021-22).
"The Armenian government is currently in the process of implementing the necessary measures resulting from the ratification of the Rome Statute.
