US President Joe Biden's words that supporters of his predecessor and presidential contender Donald Trump are trash were taken out of context, White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said.
"The President has already made a statement on this matter. He clearly explained what he meant, understanding that his words could be taken out of context. He was talking about the comedian, about his hate speech," Jean-Pierre told reporters.
She stressed that Biden "will always be a president for everyone, even for those who did not vote for him."
