There are reports that the current president Vahagn Khachaturyan has serious health problems, according to some, he will not be able to hold office until the deadline, and this is the reason for the ambitions to occupy the coveted and still unvacated position.
It's a great position for those who love to do nothing, get paid handsomely, and travel all year round. Khachaturyan was elected to the post of president in 2022 for a seven-year term.
According to news reports, Prime Minister's Chief of Staff Araik Harutyunyan, NA Speaker Alen Simonyan, as well as Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan are claiming his place. Last time there was Araik Harutyunyan's candidacy, but the team was categorically against him.
