Orbán has not ruled out war in Europe in 2026

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has admitted that war could break out in Europe in 2026, a prospect EU leaders are bracing for across the continent. As the Prime Minister emphasized in the interview to "Magyar Nemzet", after the end of the Second World War, Europe enjoyed 80 years of peace, but now the situation is different.

When asked whether 2025 could be the last year of peace in Europe, Orban answered:

"Yes, it cannot be ruled out. We are getting closer to war," the Prime Minister emphasized, reminding that proposals and decisions were made at the EU summit held in Brussels on December 18-19, which are aimed at the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine and further confrontation with Russia.

According to him, those politicians who support peace have succeeded only in "slowing down the pace of sliding into war".

"Today, there are again two camps in Europe: the war party and the peace party. At the moment, the pro-war forces dominate. Brussels wants war, Hungary wants peace," said Orban.
