Greece will allocate 20 million euros to the "Ukraine's Priority Request List" (PURL) program, through which NATO allies buy weapons for Kiev from the American stockpiles, Kathimerini newspaper reports.
According to him, Greece uses its budget reserve to participate in the PURL program. The decision of Athens was communicated to both NATO and the Americans, who have previously repeatedly emphasized the need for Greece not to be in the minority of countries that do not support arms purchases for Ukraine.
The publication emphasizes that Greece's financial participation in PURL at this stage is symbolic and first of all emphasizes the desire of Athens not to deviate from the line set by Washington.
PURL was launched on July 14 by US President Donald Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. On September 17, Patrick Turner, the representative of the alliance in Kiev, announced that the deliveries of American weapons to Ukraine are underway.
