Fruits and vegetables containing harmful chemicals were found

The use of certain fruits and vegetables can increase the number of harmful pesticides in the human body. Researchers from the Environmental Working Group (EWG) non-governmental organization have reached this conclusion. The study was published in the International Journal of Health and Environmental Health (IJHeh).

Researchers have analyzed the results of the level of pesticides in the food in the 2013-2018 food, as well as about 2,000 participants of the National Health and Food Survey (Nhanes) held by centers of disease control and prevention centers.

It turned out that people who used more often with high-level pesticides, such as strawberries, spinach and bell peppers, have significantly higher concentrations of these materials than those who preferred "clean" foods. Traces of 178 different pesticides were found in the samples, but only 42 of them were reflected in urine biomarkers.

"Our results show that what we eat directly affects the level of pesticides in our body. Fruits and vegetables are vital to health, but they also increase our chemical burden, "said the General Study, Vice President of EWG Science, Dr. Alexis Topki.

The authors emphasize that children and pregnant women are especially vulnerable to such influence. Moreover, the current security standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency take into account only individual materials, not the accomplication of mixtures, which most people consume most people.

According to researchers, going to organic food is the easiest way to reduce the level of pesticides in the body.
