iPhone 17 Pro will lose one of the main features of previous generations

Apple plans to make a radical change in the materials of the iPhone 17 series. Premium Pro and Pro Max models are expected to lose frames made of their titles, which their main feature was only two generations. Instead, this material can get a new, more affordable model, 17 Air. This was reported by 9TO5MAC.

According to internal sources, including Ming-Kuo and Jeff Pu, the senior versions of the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will return to the use of aluminum cases. This will be a significant change in the strategy, as the titan has been submitted only two years ago as the main advantage of flagships. At the same time, the exclusive right of the design made from titan will belong to a brand new model, iPhone 17 Air.

It is noted that the case of the iPhone 17 Air will be made from titanium-aluminum alloy and lower titanium content than in current Pro models. This decision seems extremely unexpected because Apple historically positioned the feature of Pro Models, and now it moves it to a more budget device.

In addition, this step raises questions in terms of weight. Aluminum is lighter than Titan, so even the use of titanium alloy in a new model, which is positioned as "thin and light" (AIR), seems illogical. It is possible that the company is trying to find a new balance between durable price segments between resistance, marketing attractiveness and value, 9TO5MAC thinks.
