Nikol Pashinyan's thoughts on the Genocide responded from the Mother See

Back in 1921, Catholicos Gevorg Y. Surenyants established April 24 as the day of remembrance of the victims of the Armenian Genocide. The Mother See made a statement about this, referring to the idea expressed yesterday by Nikol Pashinyan that we should understand what happened during the Armenian Genocide, why and through whom we perceived the Armenian Genocide, and how it appeared on our agenda since 1950.

"On the 50th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, the Armenian Genocide Memorial built on the height of Tsitsernakaberd by the special decision and care of the state, as well as the memorials erected in different parts of the world, are a universal manifestation of the national, state and church's unanimous will and judgment regarding the condemnation of the Genocide. On this special day, our people bring their prayers and bow before the memorials everywhere.

And in 2015, H.E. Karekin the Second Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians and H.E. Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia, the Catholicos of Cilicia, held the canonization ceremony of the martyred Armenians during the Armenian Genocide "for faith and for patriotism", which in itself is a eloquent testimony to the position of the Armenian Church. The Armenian Genocide is a crime not only against our people, but against all humanity. In order to prevent universal recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide, it is imperative to do similar acts of charity in the world," the publication says.
