"Fact": Not only political, but also geopolitical

The “Fact” newspaper writes: In the “Yerevan-Kentron” penitentiary institution, by the way, for the second time, the second president of the Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharyan “celebrated” his birthday. He had conveyed several observations from the prison.

The leader of the “Armenia” bloc, Robert Kocharyan, believes that what is happening is connected with “another manic exacerbation of Pashinyan’s innate fears and complexes.” According to him, the judicial system serves Pashinyan’s phobias. “We can lose the country, and it seems that the people have lost the instinct of collective self-preservation,” Robert Kocharyan believes.

As for the “case,” it is noted: “The next criminal charge is so absurd that it is difficult to give an assessment within the framework of normative vocabulary. But, nevertheless, I will try to do it. Overall, speaking in general terms, in order to present such a baseless accusation, either complete moral degradation, or legal imbecility, or complete submission to the Azerbaijani judicial system is necessary. That is their approach, that all the presidents of Artsakh should be in prison.”

President Kocharyan is also convinced that the current authorities have dragged the country into an extremely dangerous adventure, placing it at the center of the clash of geopolitical interests of major powers.

He notes: “The goal of the authorities is obvious: to divide society, to create an atmosphere of fear, hatred, incompetence and condemnation. These are necessary conditions for fulfilling all of Baku’s demands.

Pashinyan is not only handing over Armenian lands, but also breaking the collective will of the nation and spiritual values, which form the basis of any statehood. This must be stopped, or everyone must start learning Turkish.”

Yesterday, Bagrat Mikoyan, the head of President Robert Kocharyan’s office, Anna Grigoryan, the head of the “Armenia” parliamentary faction, and lawyer Aram Orbelyan also held a press conference. The main thing that can be summarized from the current realities and the statements made at the aforementioned press conference is that the current persecution of President Robert Kocharyan and his family members is not only purely political, but also has a huge geopolitical context.

By and large, this is a geopolitical “case.”

It is also no coincidence that information has been circulating that during the possible meeting between Pashinyan and Russian President Putin in Bishkek, the issue of detaining President Kocharyan for the fourth time (for the fourth time) may also be raised. But it is not only this possible circumstance that gives a geopolitical nature or subtext to this next round of political persecution against the leader of the "Armenia" bloc, although, of course, one would have to be at least blind not to see traces of a geopolitical conflict here. But this is a separate, more comprehensive topic.

The other: The three former presidents of Artsakh are now in prison in Baku. The first president of Artsakh and the leader who defeated the Azerbaijani army, Robert Kocharyan, is in prison in Yerevan. And Pashinyan and Aliyev, by the way, were “talking hard, listening hard” yesterday in the same Bishkek (judging by the widespread footage). And in general, satisfying the demands “coming” from Azerbaijan, to put it mildly, is not an easy task: to change the Constitution, hand over lands, etc. It is obvious that Pashinyan does not have public support to do them, the last elections alone showed this. After all, with administrative resources, by “raising” pensions, and by suppressing oppositionists, he could not even get close to 50 percent. Now he needs to try to gain time, show that he is working against, “putting down” the hated figures of Azerbaijan.

Finally, it is obvious that Turkey wants to establish control over Armenia (and also Georgia). In this context, those figures who can resist the implementation of Turkish-Azerbaijani demands by the government of the day (“enclaves”, withdrawal of the Declaration of Independence, amendment of the constitution, hostility with Russia, closure of the nuclear power plant, zeroing the economy”) are being arrested and persecuted or isolated from public activity in Armenia.

It is precisely because of these circumstances that this “case” is geopolitical.

P.S. By the way: the problems that allegedly existed were not enough for Nikol Pashinyan and his CP, yesterday Russian President Putin congratulated President Kocharyan, wishing him “endurance in the face of trials”.
