Israel and Hamas, brokered by the United States and Qatar, have signed a cease-fire agreement after 15 months of war, Axios and the Jerusalem Post reported, citing sources. The deal also provides for the gradual release of the hostages.
At the same time, the Israeli cabinet postponed the vote to approve the deal until the evening of Saturday, January 18.
It is necessary for the release of prisoners. As a result, the deal's entry into force was delayed from Jan. 19 to the afternoon of Jan. 20, an aide to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Axios. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced earlier that the deal will enter into force as planned, despite the postponement of the session of the Israeli government.
