"The time has come to stop their activities." Baku forbids

Jeyhun Bayramov stated that USAID's activities in Azerbaijan "largely contributed to the advancement of US interests".

"Despite this, Azerbaijan announced that if the US is interested in providing assistance to Azerbaijan, then this assistance should be provided officially and completely transparently," Bayramov's words were quoted by the Azerbaijani mass media.

The minister noted that from July 1, 2024, USAID activities in Azerbaijan are de jure impossible, and the framework document of that structure has existed since 2000.

"We have analyzed the provisions of this document and how they have been implemented in recent years. It turned out that their [USAID] activity does not serve the interests of Azerbaijan, but is aimed at the implementation of the US agenda in Azerbaijan. In accordance with the provisions of the agreement, we have sent notices and announced that we are not interested in extending the agreement under the current conditions," Bayramov said and continued. "The time has come to stop their activities. There is no need for the continuation of USAID's presence and representation in Azerbaijan, and the moment has already come to completely end their activities."
