"I want the president-elect to meet the victims of the Los Angeles wildfires and understand the extent of the devastation. I encourage him to meet the brave firefighters and first responders on the ground and see firsthand how they are saving lives." the head of state wrote.
On January 9, Trump blamed Newsom for the fires in California and called for his resignation.The governor was also criticized by the president-elect's son, Donald Trump Jr.
Forest fires started spreading in Los Angeles County on January 7. According to meteorologists, the reason for the rapid spread of the fire was the dry and very windy weather.
