European Commission (EC) President Ursula von der Leyen spent a week in the hospital due to pneumonia and is now at home in Germany. This was announced by EU spokesperson Paula Pinho at the press conference held in Brussels.
"On January 2, he went to the hospital for a check-up and was in the hospital for about a week until the following Friday," he said. According to Pinho, the head of the EC is currently at home in Germany and is recovering well. He did not specify exactly when von der Leyen will return to work.
At the beginning of January, the European Commission announced that von der Leyen was sick with pneumonia and did not perform his duties during the first two weeks of January.
