Commander of the Lebanese Army, General Joseph Aoun, failed to win in the first round of presidential elections held in the Lebanese Parliament. Spokesman Nabih Berry announced this.

"71 MPs voted for General Aun's candidacy, 37 more cast empty ballots in the ballot boxes, and 20 ballots were declared invalid," he said.

To win in the first round, the commander of the country's armed forces needed the votes of 86 out of 128 lawmakers.
