Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has announced the creation of the Integral Defense Organs (ODDI), headed by the head of state, the commander-in-chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB).
"Against a real threat funded by the outgoing US government, its satellites and the fascist far-right, we are creating ODDI to defend the country's constitution and sovereignty," he said.
Maduro during the first meeting of ODDI, which was broadcast by Venezolana TV.
The president said that the new state body unites "the popular political authority, the National Bolivarian Armed Forces (FANB), the militia and the police, with the aim of ensuring peace throughout the country." The head of state emphasized that the decree on the creation of ODDI was adopted "to ensure peace in every municipality and parish of Venezuela."
