The Chinese armed forces have sent about 2,000 people to the disaster zone of the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR), where a devastating earthquake occurred. This was reported by the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Western Zone Combat Command.
As detailed on the page of the military district of the WeChat social network, more than 1.6 thousand soldiers and officers, as well as more than 380 militiamen, arrived in the city of Shigatse, where high seismic activity was registered. They immediately started search and rescue operations.
In addition to military personnel, the combat command zone, as mentioned, provided about 3 thousand sets for accommodation: tents, beds, generators, more than 2.5 thousand sleeping bags, blankets, padded jackets.
According to PLA estimates, more than 30 victims have already been rescued.
More than 1.2 thousand people were evacuated from dangerous areas. The search for people under the rubble continues, work is being done to clear the roads.
