Bond Tower skyscrapers in Tirana are inspired by ballet

Architectural studio OODA has presented a design for two interconnected skyscrapers called Bond Tower in Tirana, which bend towards each other, writes Dezeen. The towers will house residential, commercial, office and hotel space, and their curved shape resembles the silhouette of a ballerina bending her knees during a plie position.“Two interconnected volumes of different heights that join in a plié in a cityscape, creating a silhouette reminiscent of the grace of ballet. The interaction of these forms avoids the creation of a massive urban volume, giving the building an elegant and iconic appearance,” said OODA.
The tallest of the interconnected towers will be 50 storeys high and have a subtle break at the bottom of its cuboid shape. The shorter tower will lean at a sharper angle and then lean back towards it and join to rise vertically.
The facades, reminiscent of traditional Albanian carpets, will have zigzag balconies and handrails intertwining between the vertical elements. “Just as a dancer weaves precision into every movement, this building weaves history and culture into a tapestry that reflects the city’s evolving identity,” the studio continued.
Trees and plantings will rise above Bond Tower, and a swimming pool will be located on the roof of the shorter high-rise building. Public green space will surround the base and plants will reflect the diverse landscape of the Albanian mountains.
