Israel's Defense Ministry has signed two contracts with Israel's Elbit Systems Corporation for a total of about 1 billion shekels (about $275 million) for the supply of heavy aviation bombs and the establishment of a manufacturing plant in the country. "These strategic agreements are critical to the operational resilience and capability development of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). They are a key lesson learned from the war," the statement said.
The two documents are "a cornerstone of the Israeli Defense Ministry's policy to promote the independence of Israeli production and cooperation with the local defense industry," the press service said, adding that the projects are expected to "reduce Israel's dependence on imported raw materials" as well as "strengthen Israel's economy, will expand domestic production lines and optimally respond to the current and future operational needs of the Israeli Defense Forces."
