Lukashenko said that he is not clinging to power

The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has stated that he does not hold the power and will do everything to pass it quietly to the new generation.

"I am not taking the power, I will do everything to pass this power quietly to the new generation, because I hope to live under the new government," said Lukashenko, whose words were quoted by the BelTA agency.

He emphasized that, therefore, his great advantage is that he does not try to "hold power by force". The president also touched on the topic of generational change.

On January 1, the presidential elections will be held in Belarus, the most active stage of the pre-election campaign has begun in the country in favor of the candidates. Lukashenko will fight for the position of head of the Belarusian state for the seventh time.
