The intelligence services of France have prevented nine terrorist attacks planned on the territory of the republic, which is a record figure since 2017. French Interior Minister Bruno Retaglio said this in an interview with Le Parisien newspaper.
"The threat has never been more real. In 2024, our services prevented at least nine Islamist terrorist attacks in France, three of which were planned directly during the Olympic Games," he said.
The minister expressed his intention to intensify the fight against radical Islamists. According to him, in this context, citizens who are released after serving their sentence on terrorism charges represent the greatest danger. In 2024, there were 84 such people, in 2025 it is expected that they will be more than 60. He emphasized that he does not believe that they have given up radical ideas, and promised that they will be monitored individually.
