Migrant ID: Why is a foreigner's digital profile introduced in Russia?

An experiment will be held in Moscow and the Orenburg region on the new rules for the entry of migrants. This was announced by the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev, at the meeting dedicated to the state migration policy.

A part of the meeting was published on his page of the VKontakte social network.

"From December 1, a trial will begin at Moscow airports and at the Orenburg Region automobile checkpoint to test the new entry and exit rules for foreign citizens.

In addition, the authorized organization in Moscow will organize genomic registration and issuance of an electronic migrant card," Medvedev said.

According to the Vice President of the Security Council, the new rules are aimed at creating a reliable system of identification and control of all visitors.
