A Syrian armed with a knife injured two passers-by in Berlin

In Berlin's Charlottenburg district, a Syrian citizen armed with a knife injured two passers-by, the official Berlin police portal said.

According to law enforcement agencies, the incident took place in a supermarket in the capital's Charlottenburg region and is considered an attempted murder. A Syrian citizen registered in Sweden took a knife from the store counters and stabbed two men with it. The attacker was taken into custody. One of the victims was discharged after receiving medical aid, the second is in the hospital.

The police believe that the attacker has signs of mental illness. An investigation has been launched.
