The new Syrian authorities expected more "positive statements" from Iran after the change of leadership in Damascus and hoped for a change in Tehran's position. This was announced by the leader of the opposition groups that came to power in Syria, Ahmed al-Sharaa.
"We expected positive statements from Iran. A wide section of the Syrian society hopes that Iran will play a positive role in the region. I hope that Iran will reconsider its position regarding intervention in the region," he said in an interview with Al Arabiya TV channel.
At the same time, al-Sharaa noted that Saudi Arabia "plays an important role in the future of Syria." The kingdom, the leader of the new authorities of Damascus noted, "has great investment opportunities in Syria."
