Will Trump cancel the sanctions against Russia?

The newly elected US President Donald Trump may try to cancel the anti-Russian sanctions that freeze the assets of the Central Bank of Russia in order to review the loan given to Ukraine, the American New York Times writes.

"Trump may try to 'destroy' the loan by lifting the sanctions that have frozen the assets of Russia's central bank," the publication said.

The publication reminds that the administration of US President Joe Biden has already transferred 20 billion dollars to Ukraine, providing "necessary economic assistance in the form of a loan", which will be repaid from the interest received from the frozen assets of the Russian Central Bank. .

Before this, the head of the US Treasury Department, Janet Yellen, announced that the US intends to continue tightening anti-Russian sanctions.

The minister expressed confidence that the sanctions against the Russian Federation, military aid to the Ukrainian army and granting of the mentioned loan to Ukraine should further strengthen the position of Kyiv.

Earlier, the White House admitted the uselessness of anti-Russian sanctions.
