A truck driver in Russia's Vladimir region died after he ran onto the tracks and ran in front of an oncoming electric train, RIA Novosti reports.
According to preliminary data from the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs, he ignored a prohibitory signal at a traffic light.
The accident occurred at approximately 10:20 a.m. at Belkovo station. The truck ran onto the tracks in front of the Alexandrov-1 — Orekhovo-Zuyevo electric train No. 6429. The driver applied emergency braking, but the collision could not be avoided.
As a result of the accident, two carriages of the electric train derailed and the railway infrastructure was damaged. There were no injuries among the passengers or members of the locomotive crew.
Train traffic in the Belkovo station area has been temporarily suspended. Two recovery trains were sent to the scene to eliminate the consequences, and an operational headquarters was created at Russian Railways.
