Lieutenant General of the USSR and the Republic of Armenia, Norat Ter-Grigoryants, who held high positions in the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia in the 1990s, announced that he had renounced his passport of the Republic of Armenia. He stated this in an interview with Iravunk .
According to the general, he handed over his passport at the consulate, expressing dissatisfaction with the policy of the current Armenian authorities. “I went to the consulate and handed over my RA passport. They asked me in surprise, ‘Mr. Ter-Grigoryants, what are you doing?’
And I said, ‘What should I do when people who have betrayed the small Armenian people and want to destroy them at the hands of the Turks have come to power in Armenia,’” he said. According to Ter-Grigoryants, after that he received a message from the RA Presidential Administration that he had been deprived of his citizenship. "Well, goodbye, my relatives. I will never come to Armenia again. It's over," the general announced.
