Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel called the May 1 executive order of the US administration immoral, criminal and illegal, which prohibits third countries from exporting oil to Cuba.
"The executive order, which harasses and threatens third countries that want to sell fuel to Cuba, expands the US embargo to an unprecedented level, punishing those who want to invest in Cuba or simply need goods such as food, medicine, hygiene products, etc., all of which is immoral, illegal and criminal.
The collective punishment applied to the Cuban people is an act of genocide.
It should be condemned by international organizations, and those guilty of it should be brought to justice," he wrote in X. On May 1, the US administration adopted additional restrictive measures, an executive order that imposes secondary energy sanctions against countries that intend to supply fuel to the Caribbean Republic.
