Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze called on the parliament and law enforcement agencies to study and take measures to lower prices in the country's consumer network, using anti-monopoly mechanisms if necessary.
"The net profit of individual retail chains in Georgia is up to 14%, while in Europe it is on average 2%," Kobakhidze said in a special video message on consumer prices. He noted that the price difference between Georgia and European countries is significant.
"If we compare the prices of the chains of stores of the same international brand in Georgia and France, then in Georgia sunflower oil is 34% more expensive, pasta - 97%, rice - 180%, butter - 30%, cheese - 42%, and chocolate - 47%," said the Prime Minister of Georgia.
