A simple way to improve child's school progress has been found

The International Scientists' International Group has found that obseration of adolescents as responsible family members directly related to their academic motivation and the quality of relations with their parents. The study was published in the Child Development (Childdev) magazine.

554 schoolchildren aged 13-14 from Shanghaia took part in the study. Over a year, adolescents have completed online questionnaires that have described their views on adolescence, their ability to take family responsibilities to lay their ability to study aside academic failures.

The results showed that the adolescents who positively perceived their years of formation were more inclined to consider their parents to help and treat their home responsibilities and learning more seriously. They were more stubborn after receiving low assessments and showed a higher level of trust and emotional intimacy with their parents.

According to the authors, the main conclusion of the study is that adolescence should not be considered a "storm and stress" period. On the contrary, it is a window of opportunity to develop responsibility, as well as for the development of academic resistance and social relations.

Scientists say this approach can be useful for parents, teachers and educational programs, as it helps to get rid of stereotypes and support adolescents in their development.
