BRICS countries have confirmed their support for comprehensive reforms of the UN (including the UN Security Council) to increase their weight.

The Kazan Declaration of the BRICS countries, entitled "Strengthening Multilateralism for Fair Global Development and Security", was published on the Kremlin's website.

"Recognizing the Johannesburg Declaration 2023, we reaffirm our support for a comprehensive reform of the United Nations (including the UN Security Council) to enhance its democracy, representativeness, effectiveness and implementation, as well as to expand the representation of developing countries in the BRICS Council to enable adequately respond to urgent global challenges," the document says.

In addition, BRICS leaders support the legitimate aspirations of developing countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America, including BRICS states, to play an important role in international affairs, particularly in the United Nations (including the UN Security Council), as well as to recognize African countries legitimate aspirations reflected in the Ezulwini and Sirte Declarations.

It should be noted that the summit of the BRICS countries with the participation of the heads of states is being held in Kazan on October 22-24. The position of the president of the organization is occupied by Russia from January 1, 2024, under the motto of strengthening multilateralism for fair global development and security.
