The ARF European Armenian Dat Office (EAFJD) sent an open letter to the Special Representative of the European Union (EUHR) in the South Caucasus, Magdalena Grono.
"For me, as the president of a European non-governmental organization with delegations in 13 EU member states and simply as a European citizen who believes that human dignity is inviolable, it was painful to witness how high-ranking European diplomats became participants in a carefully crafted presentation by the authoritarian regime in Baku. "We fully accept that the EU Special Representative must communicate with all parties and that first-hand knowledge of the region is important. However, there is a significant difference between impartially witnessing the realities on the ground and participating in a propaganda visit organized by Adrbajan. It is possible to get to know the situation without insulting the dignity of the people who were forcibly displaced only three years ago, subjected to famine and blockade."
The letter specifically criticizes how such propaganda measures allow Baku to "instrument the European Union to legitimize its ethnic cleansing". Karapetyan refers to the disturbing behavior of European officials when they danced with joy at a party organized by the Azerbaijani government in Artsakh, which was depopulated just 3 years ago, and emphasizes that such behavior, regardless of individual intent, inevitably carries political weight.
