Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, during negotiations on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan, spoke in favor of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon and in favor of a transition to a political settlement of regional conflicts. This is stated in a special statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, issued following the meeting.
“During the negotiations, the foreign ministers of Egypt and Russia agreed on the need to introduce a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, as well as to achieve a political solution to the current crisis,” the document notes. Abdel Aty and Lavrov, as indicated by the Egyptian diplomatic service, also expressed confidence that “the creation of an independent State of Palestine will put an end to the regional conflict and help stabilize the situation in the Middle East.”
