Member of the European Parliament Lucas Fourlas stated at the plenary session of the European Parliament that opponents of the regime in Azerbaijan are subjected to torture.
"Journalists criticizing the regime are in prison, Armenian prisoners of war are subjected to ridicule and humiliation. Tens of thousands of Armenians were expelled from their homes in Nagorno-Karabakh, and everything Christian was destroyed.
Azerbaijan also advocates the annexation of the northern part of Cyprus, a member state of the European Union occupied by Turkey. This undermines the norms of sovereignty and territorial integrity of the EU member state. The international community cannot stand aside from these illegal actions. We should not put Azerbaijan's natural gas above values and human lives," he said.
