Scientists have said that insects are contained in food products

Insects in Russia may be included in sausage, confectionery and carbonated beverages as dyes and preservatives. This was reported to Gazeta.ru from the National Research Polytechnic University of Perm (PNRPU).

Insects really appear in the form of a natural resin called "Shelak" in the household products. It is obtained from the extrinsic extrinsic of small insects such as a varnished scaly insect, bed beetles.

"Shelak (or E-904) is often used to develop vegetables and fruits, as well as chocolate pastries, candies and chewing gum. The resin not only gives the products a brilliant look, but also has functional properties, protects against mold, unnecessary moisture, and by prolonging the maintenance period, "says Alexandra Kozhevikova.

The specialist noted that the name "SHELAK" is given to modern gel nail polish, but these concepts have nothing to do. According to Kozovnikova, gel varnishes consist of chemicals, but they are named after the natural Shelak, like their luster and plane.

Kozovnikova added that Carmin is added to sweets, marmalade, jams, sauces, meat products, ice cream, chewing gum, carbonated drinks and other red foods. This is natural red dye, which is obtained from the acid contained in the shells of female coke. It is indicated by the E-120 marking.

"In October 2023, the Government of the Russian Federation also added a black military fly to the list of agricultural products and its recycled products, mashed, grains, fats and eggs. The insect contains 10 times more protein than the soy or corn, exhausting 100 times less water than necessary to produce beef, "the expert added.

The specialist reminded that the main risks of the use of food products with insect additives include digestive problems due to the outer coverage of insects.

"The human body does not produce the enzymes needed to decompose it. Another problem is allergic reactions to different gravity. People who have allergies to crayfish, dust and insects, should be especially careful with such additives, "Kozhevikova concluded.
