At a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi in Tehran on Tuesday, Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev noted productive and constructive talks with Iranian officials, saying his visit to Tehran demonstrates Baku's commitment to strengthening relations with Iran.
He described cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade, investment, transit, electricity, water and oil as beneficial and constructive.
Mustafayev also expressed hope that, given the significant potential of both countries, bilateral cooperation under the new Iranian administration will expand even more.
Pointing to events in the Caucasus region, he emphasized Baku's approach to establishing peace in the region.
Mustafayev also emphasized that the Republic of Azerbaijan will not allow its territory to be used for aggression against its neighbors.
For his part, Araqchi emphasized the importance of Azerbaijan in Iran's foreign policy, expressing hope that relations between the two countries will continue to develop.
He also welcomed the determination of the countries of the region to resolve problems through negotiations and reach a peace agreement, declaring Iran's readiness to assist in this process.
The Iranian Foreign Minister also pointed out the crimes committed by the Zionist regime against the defenseless people of Palestine and Lebanon with the support of some Western countries, emphasizing the need for global action to stop these atrocities, the Foreign Ministry said on its website.
Araqchi reaffirmed Iran's rejection of foreign interference in the Caucasus and emphasized the importance of using regional potential, including the 3+3 consultative mechanism.
