The issuance of new biometric passports will begin in Armenia on November 1. This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan.
According to her, a biometric document is not just a new passport, but a means of digital identification of a person when crossing the border.
Identification will be carried out using a new generation invisible chip installed in the passport, which will be mutually recognizable throughout the world.
Regarding the connection between the new passport and the visa liberalization process with EU countries, the minister clarified that in the case of current passports, the European border guard is forced to scan and examine the document, and the possibility of forgery remains.
In the case of the new biometric passport, identification and document verification will be possible within seconds.
