In one of the Rome Clinics, Pope Francis was diagnosed with double pneumonia, the Associated Press reported. The Vatican's press service clarified that the respiratory infection of pontificant has led to a bronchial asthma.
"The laboratory tests of the Holy Father, the X-ray of the chest show a complex picture," the press service said in a statement. Pontife is currently a course of antibiotic treatment. "Nevertheless, he has a good mood and thanks for his recovery prayers," said Vatican Spokesman Matteo Bruni.
Earlier, it was reported that Francis became ill in January with a bronchitis. On February 14, he was hospitalized in AGOSTINO Gemelli Clinic, as the disease became chronic.
Pope Francis is 88 years old.
