Former Deputy Minister of Defense, member of the Republican Party Executive Body Artak Zakaryan reflected on the latest geopolitical developments.
“Ukraine and Europe should participate in any negotiations related to the end of the war in Ukraine.” In a statement today, the foreign ministers of a dozen European countries also expressed their readiness to strengthen support for Ukraine, defending its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Yesterday, during a telephone conversation between US and Russian Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, it was recorded that the mutual desire and readiness to stop the war and resolve the issues regarding Ukraine were recorded.
Today’s statement from Europe shows that stopping the war at this stage and with this status quo is not to their liking. They have, in fact, also hinted at continuing the war in Ukraine, since it is obvious that Russia will not agree to the conditional solutions put forward by the EU.
It is difficult to say for now whether the American administration will succeed in bringing the strategic positions of Russia and the European locomotive countries closer together.
It is not excluded that the United States, after several attempts then, the process of achieving peace will cease, and Europe will be forced to face the course and consequences of the Ukrainian war alone.
Especially since Europe is not united in this war, and countries have different interests and expectations. In that case, the geography of military operations may expand, including other European territories.
And the increasing costs allocated to the war and deepening social problems will lead to growing dissatisfaction among the societies of the countries and possible changes of power. It is perhaps premature to have illusions about a peaceful and stably developing world,- Zakaryan wrote on his social media page.
