The US has announced that it does not intend to abandon diplomacy with Iran and China

The US President's National Security Assistant, Jake Sullivan, stated that Washington does not intend to abandon diplomacy in relations with Tehran and Beijing.

"In terms of Iran and China, I think there are opportunities not only in terms of deterrence and countermeasures, but also in terms of diplomacy. In the case of China, diplomacy is needed to effectively manage the competition and better understand how
two great powers can coexist," he said on CNN International.

At the same time, Sullivan said he was skeptical about the possibility of any "grand deal" between the US and China. Because of the "competitive aspect" of relations with Beijing, Washington should "strengthen its competitiveness, not sell China advanced technologies" that could be used against the United States and its allies, according to the US president's national security aide.

"But I believe that diplomatic relations between the president of the United States and the leader of China can bring greater stability and create opportunities for our cooperation in areas that are of mutual interest to us," he concluded.

Sullivan added that "in the case of Iran" he sees a "real opportunity" to reach an agreement on a new nuclear deal.

"It would be interesting because it was Trump who pulled out of the last nuclear agreement, but maybe this time he will be able to arrange it, taking into account the situation in which Iran is," said an adviser to the American leader.

He claimed that today "Iran has weakened", and this may force Tehran to create a nuclear bomb.
