South Korea has announced that it is imposing sanctions on 11 North Korean individuals and 15 legal entities for their alleged participation in Russia's military operations against Ukraine, Yonhap reported.
Among them, three high-ranking North Korean military personnel, one of whom is believed to be the head of the forces stationed in Russia, as well as a specialist in missile development, have come under sanctions.
It is reported that sanctions are imposed on the mentioned persons "for participating in illegal military cooperation with Russia in violation of many resolutions of the UN Security Council".
The new sanctions will enter into force on December 19. On December 16, Ukraine announced for the first time that 30 of the North Korean soldiers fighting on the Russian side were killed or wounded during the battles in the Kursk region on December 14-15.
