The "Past" daily writes: After the end of COP29, Azerbaijan started advancing its demands again, because the negotiation process was at a standstill for about a month due to that event.
Moreover, it passed with new momentum and new "colors". After the crimes committed against Artsakh and Armenia, through that conference, Azerbaijan actually managed to show that not only have no sanctions been imposed on it, it is not isolated in international relations, but various countries continue to cooperate with it, including Europe.
And since that problem is solved, Azerbaijan can repeat its actions, that is, start a new aggression and remain unpunished.
In the case of Artsakh, along with undertaking military aggression and imposing a blockade, they announced from Baku that Artsakh belongs to them and their goal is the reintegration of the people of Artsakh, but they did not want to and left. Now the so-called "Western Azerbaijan" topic is being pushed forward with even greater momentum.
And there is an opinion that Azerbaijan, in connection with the return of Artsakh Armenians, brings forward the subject of the same number of Azerbaijanis coming to Armenia in a mirror manner. But this is a wrong opinion, time has proven that Azerbaijan does not keep any agreement, and there is no guarantee that it can ensure the safety of the people of Artsakh, even if guarantees for this are created by the document. And if there was really a question of the return of the Armenian population, then Azerbaijan would not mercilessly demolish the buildings, including those in the capital Stepanakert, which are the property of Artsakh Armenians.
Some foreign centers are also making statements that Artsakh Armenians should return, or that they are raising the issue of realizing the right of return, but in reality, these are only empty statements.
Nothing is being done to create practical mechanisms. Thus, for example, during the closure of the Lachin Corridor and the blockade of Artsakh, various officials made statements, condemned Azerbaijan's actions, called for the opening of the Lachin Corridor, but in reality they did not take any steps to pressure Baku.
Yuri Kim, acting deputy secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs of the US Department of State, even declared that the United States would not tolerate ethnic cleansing or other atrocities against the people of Nagorno Karabakh, but the events showed that the US not only tolerated it, but American officials continue to travel to Baku, " in order to discuss the "peace" issue, and has meetings with high-ranking Azerbaijani officials.
Moreover, Armenia does not officially raise the issue of restoring the rights of the Artsakh people, but only seeks to present the topic related to the Artsakh people in the context of providing them with social support.
As for the return of Armenians who left the territory of Azerbaijan as a result of deportation in the 90s, that issue was not even on the agenda at all. But the most surprising thing is that the RA authorities actually do not deny that the subject of the return of Azerbaijanis is being discussed. It is no coincidence that against this background, so-called "Western Azerbaijan" Nikol Pashinyan and other "nikols" are compared to "Western Armenia". In fact, theses about "Western Azerbaijan" are not empty propaganda, they are an attempt to lay concrete mines under Armenia's sovereignty.
Pashinyan declares that he will not give up a single millimeter from the internationally recognized sovereign territory of Armenia, but formally the territories can remain part of Armenia, and Azerbaijanis or some suspicious groups, why not, imported terrorists can come and decide how Armenians should live
As a result, conditions may be created in those territories for the departure of Armenians and ethnic cleansing, as they did in the case of Artsakh. After that, they will announce from Baku that they tried to restore the rights of "Western" Azerbaijanis, to reintegrate them into the Armenian society, but the Armenians decided to leave, that is their decision.
And so the Armenian territories will be usurped by the enemy. Without it, there are already demands on the part of Azerbaijan to determine the fate of Armenians. For example, the topic of changing the Constitution of Armenia does not leave Baku's agenda, various officials regularly announce it. It is clear that the demand to change other laws should also follow the Constitution. It turns out that Azerbaijan should decide what laws Armenia should live by, as a result of which the Armenian people will finally be deprived of their will.
The RA authorities also declare that there are territorial claims against Armenia in the Constitution of Azerbaijan, but they do not raise this issue.
But why don't they raise this issue in the negotiation process, they can make it a public demand? Instead, they constantly state that they want to open an era of peace, but, according to Azerbaijan, the "era of peace" means that Pashinyan will constantly make concessions and satisfy the enemy in every way.
By its very nature, Azerbaijan is very far from humanitarian values and will constantly demand new concessions, up to the dissolution of Armenia in its current form, as happened in the case of Artsakh. And the clear evidence of this is that the other key demand put forward by Baku refers to the fact that Armenia should not have an army and should not acquire weapons, because it opens the door for revanchism. What does this mean, if not the concession of Armenia's security or the disintegration of statehood?
The document signed under these conditions will not be a peace treaty, but a capitulation treaty. And it is not excluded that reparations can also be a component of it. Let's not forget that Azerbaijan constantly raises the topic that Armenia should pay compensation for using the mines and other resources of Artsakh, they even appealed to the arbitration court.
So, it is no coincidence that the overwhelming majority of politicians and experts constantly insist that if we want to preserve our statehood, we should resist the enemy as much as possible, but for that we need to change the authorities, because they are more busy legitimizing Azerbaijan's demands.
