"Zhoghovurd" daily writes:
"On November 18, the National Assembly officially informed that the 38th session of the inter-parliamentary commission on cooperation between the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation was held in Dilijan under the chairmanship of National Assembly Vice President Hakob Arshakyan and Yuri Vorobyov.
At first glance, this may seem like another official event, or in a geopolitical sense, an effort to restore relations with the Russians.
But, here and there, this session led by Hakob Arshakyan was accompanied by a scandal.
According to the exclusive information of "Zhoghovurd" daily, the participation of a number of deputies of the Russian State Duma was planned for the session of the inter-parliamentary commission held in Dilijan, but the Russian deputies refused to come to Armenia, and their refusal was explained by the Rome Statute ratified by Armenia.
"Zhoghovurd" daily learned from its well-informed sources that the deputies of the Russian State Duma were afraid that their visit to Armenia could have an unpredictable outcome, even in the form of arrest.
According to that, the Russian partners conveyed to the CP members that neither the Armenian nor the Russian side, in turn, gave guarantees to the Russian deputies that the requirements of the Rome Statute would not apply in their case and they would not be arrested.
As a result, the session of this inter-parliamentary committee was held without State Duma deputies.
Only the representatives of the RF Federal Assembly and the representatives of the Armenian side were present.
"Zhoghovurd" daily newspaper tried to get comments from NA Deputy Speaker Hakob Arshakyan on this occasion, but failed, neither in the NA nor through a phone call.
