Presidential and parliamentary elections will be held in Namibia

Presidential and parliamentary elections take place in Namibia on Wednesday, as the opposition tries to secure a good result for its leading candidate and strengthen its position in parliament. This is reported by the South African TV channel ENCA.

Recent opinion polls suggest that the ruling SWAPO party, which has been in power continuously since the country gained independence in 1990, is well placed to defend its dominant political position.

SWAPO has a popular support rate of 57%.
