The NATO Parliamentary Assembly called on members of the defense bloc to develop a common strategic approach to Russia, which should include preparing the alliance to contain Moscow, including in the nuclear sphere, according to the adopted resolution following the annual session.
“We call on the governments and parliaments of the members of the North Atlantic Alliance... to develop, by the next summit in the Netherlands, a common strategic approach to Russia, focused on fully preparing the alliance to contain and counter Russia’s hostile actions in all areas, be they conventional, hybrid or nuclear,” the document states. following the PA session held in Canada.
In addition, the resolution also calls for support for efforts aimed at weakening Moscow, including strengthening the sanctions regime, as well as “recognition of Ukraine’s right to strike legitimate military targets” on Russian territory, ostensibly in accordance with the principle of self-defense of the UN Charter.
