If there is no dispersal at night, he will make a statement about the successful elections against the backdrop of a protest near the Georgian parliament

Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili will address the European Parliament on Tuesday, November 26, on behalf of the Georgian people, said one of the leaders of the Unity coalition, Tamar Kordzaia.

“They would have said straight out that everyone would be arrested.”

This is how the President of Georgia commented on today’s warning from the Ministry of Internal Affairs a few hours before the start of a large rally in front of parliament.

According to Zurabishvili, the statement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is a direct threat.

“This is yet another proof of Russian-style government,” the president wrote on FB.

The government press service announced a briefing by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze at 10:00 on Monday.

If there is no dispersal at night, he will make a statement about the successful elections against the backdrop of a protest outside the Georgian parliament.

The first meeting of the new parliament, whose elections are not recognized by the opposition, is due to begin at 12:00. The meeting will be attended only by deputies of the ruling Georgian Dream party, which, according to the Central Election Commission, won about 54% of the votes in the October 26 elections and received 89 of the 150 seats in the legislative body.

All four opposition forces that crossed the electoral threshold are boycotting the meeting, claiming that the election results were rigged. The new parliament is also not recognized by Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili.

The country’s Western partners did not congratulate the Georgian Dream on its victory, calling for an investigation into possible falsifications and waiting, in particular, for the final report of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).
