The G20 summit opened in Brazil

The two-day summit of the Group of Twenty countries (G20) was opened in Rio de Janeiro. The leaders of all G20 countries and other countries, including Angola, Bolivia, Qatar, Colombia, Egypt, Malaysia, Nigeria, Singapore and Vietnam, have been invited to the meeting, according to Russian media.

The Russian delegation is headed by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Brazil has chosen sustainable development, the reform of global governance and institutions, including the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund and the World Trade Organization, social inclusion and the fight against hunger as the central themes of its presidency.

Brazil's proposed Global Alliance to Fight Hunger and Poverty will officially launch on November 18, with the aim of mobilizing countries, international organizations and the private sector to take action to ensure access to food, especially in the most vulnerable areas.

Brazil also wants to include in the declaration a call for peaceful settlement of conflicts, including in Ukraine and the Middle East.
