“An official response to a written invitation is a mandatory element of the procedure for obtaining partner status agreed upon by the Member States. It is from this moment that the country is officially considered a BRICS partner,” said the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.
It is noted that the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed a letter on the republic’s readiness to accept an invitation to the organization on November 5. Previously, Uganda received an invitation to become a BRICS partner. According to Ugandan Foreign Minister Jejje Odongo, the country is carrying out the necessary approval procedures that will make it possible to decide whether Uganda is ready to accept the invitation.
